Tube bosses have again been accused of disrespect after a second incident of a body of someone killed by a train being stored in a cleaners mess room.
Victoria line services were suspended at Euston station during the height of last night's evening peak following the fatality at platform five shortly after 4 pm.
The body was then moved to the
mess room until around 7.30pm.
It is understood there were no
suspicious circumstances.
There was widespread disruption
to the busy line used by more than
550,000 passengers a day.
London Underground (LU) was
condemned in July after it was
revealed the body of a man was
kept in a cleaners cupboard for five
hours at Edgware Road station.
This prompted demands for an
inquiry from the RMT union to
ensure such a thing "did not
happen again."
Mr Crow said today: "This is the second incident of a corpse
being stored in a cleaners cupboard or mess room that the
RMT has discovered in the past year and the practice is wholly
unacceptable. "Our union representatives are in no doubt that
the storing of bodies in this grotesque fashion is down to
pressure to get services back running as quickly as possible.
"There has to be a better and more dignified procedure of
dealing with these individual tragedies."
A spokesman for Transport for London said the ambulance
service do not transport the deceased so it is standard procedure for a body to be removed to a secure room within the station to await transfer to the morgue.
He said correct procedures had been followed. In the Edgware Road incident, the deceased was found by three shocked members of staff who did not know the body was there. Two cleaners were said to be been disturbed by the find and a woman customer services assistant was said to have been "extremely distressed.

Giant 30 inch rats infest Ravenscliffe Estate in Bradford UK.
London transport police and underground workers clear up another dead body from the tracks. They do this over 200 times a year with more during the Christmas period.

Rats in the London underground system have mutated. They have adopted a human flesh diet and feed on suicide victims. The body parts of these people are often spread out over wide areas by the oncoming trains.
With almost one body a day there is a plentiful food source for these super rats.
With no natural predators they are now the dominant species in the huge underground network and top up their diet on discarded food dropped by the public on their daily commute.
Underground workers and transport police usually clear the bodies very swiftly in what is a very difficult and stressful job but on occasions body parts go undetected for days and are dragged off by these large mutant rats.
New London underground mosquitoes emerge
Scientists believe they have discovered a new breed of mosquito deep in the London underground railway network.
The insects appear to have mutated from the bird-biting form that colonised the underground when it was built in the last century to a variety that nips rats, mice and maintenance workers.
The scientists say the underground mosquitoes are reluctant to mate with their outdoor cousins, indicating that they have become a separate species -- a process that normally takes thousands of years rather than decades
Reports of giant black rats are also on the increase in cities around the world. These 30 inch beasts are too big for cats to get a grips with and pest control services are struggling to kill these monsters that are immune to many commonly used rat poisons.
